What Every Newbie Blogger Needs to Know

VivianWrites... among other things!

With the rising price of gas and the desire of parents to remain in the workforce while staying home with young children, more and more companies are exploring the growing option of telecommuting. Employees without flex options are realizing the costs of commuting and childcare just aren't worth it, and considering trading in the cubicle for a home office.

Having obtained my Journalism degree 3 years ago with a baby on the way, I consider myself extremely lucky to have found amazing avenues by which I could work AND remain at home. The articles in this site include topics pertinent to such a journey, including: telecommuting news, blogging, freelancing, work-at-home issues, professional development, social networking, telecommuting resources, software and tips, e-book reviews, and advice on telecommuting with a toddler in tow. Subscribe via the links in the sidebar to get notified of my latest posts!

This site is also a virtual portolio, a snap shot of my various skills and interests, including an avenue by which I may be contacted for freelancing opportunities. In the "Professional Services" link in the navigation menu, you will find my latest resume, samples of my work, and a little bit about me, both personally and professionally.

Cheers!

I was one of the lucky one’s who took a job that was telecommuting friendly from the get go. Most telecommuters, however, were traditional on-site workers who converted their job to a part-time telecommuting situation by proposing the idea to their employer. Their reasons vary: “Gosh, I can do half of the work I do […]
